MATHS DEPATMENT

Conveyor: Prof. Rupam Mehra

Volunteer professor: Prof. Prathiksha Amin

The program was conducted for FY B.Com students on the topic “Time Series Analysis”. I explained the need of above topic and four methods to find 3 yearly, five yearly, four yearly moving averages and the method of least square.

Many questions were raised by the students and I clarified their doubts regarding the usage of time series, merits and demerits of all the methods.

Students were asked one day prior to find the rates of gold from 2005 to 2012.

After explanation students were divided into four groups and each group was asked to make time series graph with one method on the analyzed data

Two members from each group explained the method given to them for analysis and method to draw the graph in front of everyone involved in the activity.

All the students participated enthusiastically in the activity and got their doubts clarified.

It was quiet informative for the students to know the fluctuations in the rate of gold in the given tenure.

There was one Quiz competition also conducted on mathematics. 4 teams of two students each were the finalists. Students enjoyed the event.
