Introduction:

B.Com is a three years course. This course is designed for the students, who want to perceive their career in the field of Accounting, Finance, Banking, Insurance Management etc. The course covers the major areas ranging from fundamentals to advanced concepts in the subject offered in the course.

Features:

The degree is designed to provide the student with a wide range of managerial skills while at the same time building competence in a particular area.

The degree provides the necessary skills for general managers, entrepreneurs and business leaders to function effectively in a variety of business-related career opportunities.

Programme Content:

The student is exposed to general business principles, quantitative analysis, case studies and organizational behavior. The curriculum thus focuses both on academic subjects such as statistics, mathematics and economics, as well as practical business subjects, such as accountancy, law, management, marketing, finance, etc.

Future Prospects:

After successful completion of the B.Com degree, student will be eligible to:

  • Take up professional courses such as M.Com, MFA, MBA, CA, ICMA, ACS, Law, CFA, MCA etc.
  • Study Post-graduate diploma courses in Finance, Marketing, HRM, Accounting, taxation, General Management etc.

Take up computer courses in Management, Accounts, Finance, MIS, and E-Commerce etc.

ELIGIBILITY

Following is the eligibility criterion for admission to FYBCOM. Class:-

(1) Those who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std. XII) conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in the following subjects :

i) English

ii) Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages taught in the College.

iii) Four other subjects from among the other subjects

OR

(2)Three subjects from among the subjects mentioned below and one subject from among the remaining optional subjects for the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination.

(i) Economics (ii) Book- Keeping and Accountancy (iii) Organisation of Commerce

(iv) Co-operation.

(3) Those who have passed an examination of another University/Board or Body recognised as equivalent thereto.

Scheme of Examination:

The evaluation of the students shall be done on the basis of the written annual examination having 100  marks in each paper.

Duration of annual written examination carrying 100 marks in each paper shall be of three hours. A candidate will be declared to have passed the annual examination if she/he secures passing marks as prescribed by the university.The final result of the candidates shall be declared on the basis of combined results of all the annual examination of B.Com. I, B.Com. II and B.Com. III.

A candidate securing 60% or more marks or above will be awarded first division and candidates securing 45% or more but less than 60% marks in the aggregate will be placed in II division and candidate securing 33% or more but less than 45% marks in the aggregate will be placed in IIIrd division.
